Roosevelt Elementary School
The Roosevelt School building was completed in 1921, and the school occupied in February, 1922. The original building was 38,268 square feet and was built for a cost of $216,000. This building served as a Junior High School. There were no additions until 1995, when an elevator and a computer room were added to the facility. In 1998, a new gymnasium was built and the former gymnasium was renovated into a community room, cafeteria and kitchen. This project added 8,434 square feet of new space and 1,326 square feet of renovated space. This project was completed at a cost of $801,000 for the construction phase. A new parking lot was built for the school at the corner of 11th Avenue and 10th Street North. With all costs included, the actual cost for this project was approximately one million dollars.
