Longfellow Elementary School
Longfellow opened its doors in September of 1962 with eight classrooms, an office area, and a gym/auditorium. Residential construction was taking place to the west of Elm Street and only Peterson Farm could be seen in the distance on the forty acres north lying north of the building. A library and two more classroom wings were soon added to the building to accommodate a growing north side, and two additional classroom wings were added to the north of the building by the late 1970s. Three more classrooms were added to the front of the building in the early 90s. In the spring of 2005 a new multi-purpose room/lunchroom and larger gymnasium were built on the northwest corner of the building. The old gym was turned into a spacious library and the old library became two new classrooms.
